News related to Edge Media TV which isn't covered in the Forum will be posted here.

October 28th 2008

Edge Media TV have been advised that a few people who sent a text message in to the live "Now That's Weird" on Thursday 23rd October may have received billed text messages by return from another operator.

The shortcode to which messages were sent, in this case "87778", is shared with a number of other operators. Shortcodes use the first 'keyword' to direct the SMS messages to different service providers.

If you did not begin your text message with the keyword "EDGE", as instructed on-screen and by the presenter, it may have been redirected to another user of this shortcode, unrelated to Edge Media TV, and may have been charged.

Additionally, some mobile phones allow you to send messages that are longer than the 160-character length of a standard text message - these messages are delivered by your mobile phone service provider as two seperate messages, and unless the second and subsequent messages also began with "EDGE" they would not have reached the correct keyword, and again may have been charged.

Edge Media TV are happy to refund in full any charges that have occured as a result of viewers sending in messages that did not reach our keyword, for the reasons outlined above. Please email your telephone number to us to allow us to identify what charges you incurred and we will contact you to arrange a refund.
